Charleston, Community, and the Magic of Showing Up

Charleston, Community, and the Magic of Showing Up

Last week gave me one of the most unforgettable moments of my Elisamama journey.
I finally made it to Charleston, and honestly, my heart is still so full.

Charleston had quietly been on my radar for years.
We once planned a pop-up in the city that never came to life. Later, there was a product collaboration in motion that also fell through. At the time, those closed doors felt disappointing. Now I see them differently. They were pauses, simply waiting for the right moment.

And this was the right moment.

Over the course of three beautiful days, I experienced Charleston in the most life-giving and soul-nourishing way.

I spent time with one of our longtime Elisamama mamas, Natalie Mason, creating content, sharing stories, and even making a delicious salad together.

Just when I thought the trip could not become more meaningful, I spent the following day with Megan Pinckney Rutherford and her family. Being welcomed into their home felt like reuniting with soul family.

Living far from home for so many years has shaped me in quiet ways. Their warmth and hospitality touched something deep inside me. Discovering the shared threads between their Charleston ancestry and my own Nigerian heritage made the experience even more profound. I am still gently unpacking those emotions.

We closed the trip with a Mother’s Day panel alongside incredible local mamas.
We sat together in honesty and vulnerability, sharing stories about motherhood, identity, and everything in between.

There is something sacred that happens when women gather and speak from the heart.
The space we created felt tender, powerful, and deeply real. Meeting many of these women for the first time and still feeling such closeness is something I will never forget.

It truly felt like magic.

This Elisamama journey continues to surprise me in the most beautiful ways, bringing connection, healing, and moments I could never have planned on my own.

I am deeply grateful to every woman who welcomed me into her home, her heart, and her city.

And to each of you who continues to support this dream from near or far, thank you. Truly.
