Finding Joy in the Everyday
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about pace.
I recently watched a few episodes of With Love, Meghan, and I’ll be honest, I was surprised by how much it stayed with me. While there was plenty of noise around it, what I saw felt quiet, intentional, and gentle. The slower rhythm, the way everyday moments were treated with care, the invitation to romanticize the ordinary. It all felt like a soft pause in the middle of a very loud world.
Around the same time, I finished reading Joie by one of our very own Elisamama mamas, Ajiri Aki. In her book, she writes about joy through a Parisian lens, finding beauty in small rituals, savoring simple pleasures, and allowing life to be lived a little more slowly. It felt like a continuation of the same conversation, one about presence, intention, and choosing joy where we can.

Now, I know not everyone connects with Meghan, or Paris, or that particular aesthetic. That’s okay. What resonated with me wasn’t the setting, it was the idea beneath it. The reminder that joy doesn’t only live in big milestones or perfectly curated moments. More often, it shows up quietly. In the in-between. In the ordinary.
I also want to say this clearly. Slowing down, romanticizing life, and creating space for joy can be a privilege. Life is full. Responsibilities are real. Some days are about survival, not softness. And still, I believe that no matter where we are, we can gently challenge ourselves to notice, create, or protect small pockets of meaning in our everyday lives.
For me, that looks like tending to a few herbs at home, setting the table even when it’s just family, laughing with my children, or stopping to watch the sky change colors at sunset. These moments aren’t grand, but they are grounding. They remind me to be here.

In a world that often feels rushed and overwhelming, choosing to slow down, even briefly, feels like an act of care. I’m trying to romanticize the mundane, not to escape reality, but to meet it with more intention.
So I’ll leave you with this, mama.
How are you finding joy in your everyday life right now?
Where can you pause, even for a moment, and savor what’s already there?
Let’s keep choosing joy, one small moment at a time.
